Euro Cargo Rail - The first private rail operator in France
|
In May 2006, Euro Cargo Rail started its first national cargo transport in France for the customer Carrières du Boulonnais. Today, Euro Cargo Rail is a recognised company for rail freight services.
Euro Cargo Rail is a subsidiary of DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd, the biggest British rail freight carrier. The company was created in 2005 after the liberalisation of the rail transport market in Europe. Since November 2007, ECR is affiliated to Deutsche Bahn, one of the leading providers of mobility and logistics services worldwide.

The network of Euro Cargo Rail spans from the North of the UK to Milan and from Paris to Madrid. Located in France and Spain, Euro Cargo Rail operates all over Europe including Great Britain via the English Channel Tunnel.
With 800 waggon trains per month, Euro Cargo Rail's market share is 5.3 percent of the French rail freight market (source: Estimation by RFF 2008). Important industry sectors for Euro Cargo Rail are:

830 staff members work on 15 sites in France and provide an ideal customer service, across all regions. The Euro Cargo Rail headquarter is based in Paris and seven operating depots are located in:
- Bourg en Bresse
- Calais
- Champigneulles + Control Centre (Nancy)
- Marseille
- Paris
- Toulouse
- St. Pierre des Corps (Tours)
Further sites are in Rouen, Châlons en Champagne, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lamballe, Le Mans, Forbach and St. Louis.
